This tutorial is about how to upload a file from your computer to a File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server. Both platforms Windows and Mac computers have built-in ways on how to access FTP servers, but you can also use an FTP client such as FileZilla to connect to your FTP server. You should have the FTP Login Details, and FTP Client Software such as FileZilla .

Step 1: Download FileZilla

To connect to an FTP server you will need to have FTP Client software, you can use FileZilla.

Step 2: How to find FTP Login details

After you download an FTP Client software, you'll need to provide FTP Login details which you can find on your cPanel.

Login to cPanel, and to section Files and select FTP Accounts.

Step 3: Configure FTP Client at your software

1. Open your FileZilla application

2. Click File - Site Manager

3. Put in your FTP details.

Type in the Host (e.g., "ftp://ftp.server.com"), your user name at User textbox, and your password at Password textbox. Most FTP servers run on default port 21, so you won't need to change this value unless is specified by the server. For example, to connect to a test FTP server, you would type ftp://speedtest.hostulus.com into the host area.

Some servers don't ask for the second "FTP" line in the address. If you add the second FTP, you can't log in.

Step 4: Uploading files to your website

If FTP login details are correct, you'll see the connection log in the status section. Now go to the folder where you are allowed to upload files public_html and open that folder.

After you open public_html folder just drag and drop the files you want to upload to your website.
