How to manage domains in cPanel?

The Domains section is used for creating and managing multiple domains in one place.

You can find easy this menu by logging in to your cPanel account >> and to navigating to the Domains section >> and click on Domains:


The Domains menu can be divided into 3 sections:

  • Creating a new domain/subdomain
  • Listing existing domains
  • Managing existing domains

How to create new domain/subdomain?

After you navigate to the Domains menu, you will find the Create A New Domain option which allows you to add another domain to your cPanel account or create a subdomain in same cPanel account.



After you click on the Create A New Domain button, you will find the following interface:



Step 1. Enter a full domain name that you want to add or a subdomain you want to create for example ( eg.com, any.eg.com, etc.).

Step 2. Then, you specify the root directory for the domain (document root) where your files will be stored for your website. Below are the following options:

You can select to Share document root with "main_domain.tld". 

To create a new document root for your domain or subdomain, just untick the Share document root with "main_domain.tld" option and specify the which directory where you to store files for this domain.


Step 3. Now click on the Submit button to add the domain or on the Submit and Create Another Domain button if you want to add another domain.

Listing existing domains

Section List Domains will show all the domains and subdomains that are in your cPanel account:

  • List of all domains and subdomains which are created in the cPanel is available in the Domain section. 
  • The Document Root section shows the root folders for all of your domains. Click on the Home icon if you want to access the File Manager interface for that domain.
  • The Redirects To option shows all the redirects for all of your domains. If the domain is redirected to a different domain, you can be able to check the destination in this section.
  • If you want to manage all of your redirects, just go to cPanel >> the Domains section >> the Redirects menu.



How to manage your existing domains

This section can be accessed by going to cPanel >> Domains >> and the Manage button.

It will allows you to updating, deleting the domain/subdomain, and checking domain info:

  • Update the Domain
  • Remove the Domain
  • Domain Information
  • Additional Resources


How to update your domain?

The New Document Root option in the Update the Domain section allows changing the current root folder for the domain:

To change your root folder, follow the steps below:

Please enter a new document root to the specific field.

And now click on the Update button.

How to remove domain from cPanel ?

The Remove the Domain section will allow you to remove a domain from your cPanel.



To remove a domain just click on the red button ( Remove Domain ) and confirm by clicking on the button Yes, remove this domain


  • You cannot remove the main domain
  • It's very highly recommended to do a fully backup before you delete a domain.
  • If you want to remove a domain that contains your email accounts, those email accounts will not appear in the Email Accounts menu. Though, the mail folders for the email accounts will still be available on the server. If you want to add the domain again, the email accounts will be available again in the Email Accounts menu.
