How to add new category in WordPress

Step 1: Log in at your WordPress admin dashboard.
Step 2: At dashboard menu, hover the mouse at Posts and click Categories.
Now just enter the following details:
Name: Enter name of your category for example List of books
Slug: You can add your custom slug or to leave as it is.
Parent: Leave this to None
Description: You can leave blank, or you can add any custom description.
